GEMS OF WISDOM
2006

Pastor Philip's Gems from the "GEM-MAKER"

Most Christians come to church with a divided heart. They want half of what God wants and half of what man wants.

It doesn’t matter how many times we’ve fallen down. It only matters how many times we get up.

The devil doesn’t mind if we get a good word ... as long as we don’t use it.

If we learn to order our conversation, our mouth will be full of praise because then we will see salvation on every corner.

NOW is the key word. NOW faith is. (Heb. 11:1-2) It is a finished work in God – He has already provided everything we need.

Whatever ‘world’ we find ourselves living in was created by the words we are speaking. If we don’t like that, then we need to changewhat we are saying.

Unbelief neutralizes the church.

The best way to take an inventory of your faith is to take an inventory of your words.

When we spend time praying and speaking the Word, it reproves us and shows us that the word of God is true.

The people in the “hall of fame” (Heb. 11) were not perfect people – but they were perfected in faith. They knew God was a God of covenant.

We’re not here to play church but to be the church.

The greatest enemy of the church is religion because the former always resists the coming in of the new.

Often we are hiding in our churches–afraid to do what God has created us to do and be in the church.

The will of God for our lives is to be conformed to the image of Jesus and nothing else.

Your past cannot hinder your tomorrow unless you let it.

We have to feed our faith and starve our doubts to death.

Bitterness is like drinking poison and expecting somebody else to get hurt.

God doesn’t want to deliver a message through a sermon, but through His word.

Many see the church as a refuge and not as a launching pad.

God is not an either/or God, but a both/and God.

God is more interested in our being a light of the world than in being a light in the church.

God doesn’t need us to act right, but to BE right!

We must first pray against what we can see before we war against what we can’t see. We don’t battle thoughts with thoughts but we battle thoughts with words

A backslider: Someone who quit giving expression to God and is giving it to something else. (We need to stop giving expression to darkness!)

God is not moved by circumstances but by faith.

A leader who does not spend time in the presence of God will give the people what they want and not what God wants

The reason there is no travail (Is. 23:4) in the church today is because there is no conception.
